Working out is something that most individuals hate, especially if it is something that they must do to lose weight. The disdain for physical exercise among the populous makes sense if you really think about it. What a pain…in more ways than one. However, did you know that maintaining a workout regiment can actually improve your career, your confidence, and your finances?
Your attitude toward physical exercise is your attitude about life.
Stephen Covey wrote a book entitled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People , and it does an amazing job of explaining how everything you do correlates to a certain mindset. If you hate working out because it is difficult, then you must ask yourself if this is the attitude you would take if you were interested in starting your own business or fighting for a promotion? Some of America’s most famous and wealthy people state that they begin their day with a specific workout routine. They say that working out, even if it is at a low frequency, allows them to regenerate the energy that they need to start their day effectively. If you refuse to push yourself to get physically fit, then how do you expect to push yourself in any other area? Being healthy and feeling your best is something that should be a priority; however, if this is something you refuse to do because it’s too difficult, then more than likely this is how you approach your decision about your desire to go beyond your comfort zone. It all starts in the mind.
What you think is what shall be. If you think working out is too hard, then it will be. If you think starting your own business is too hard, then it will be. Think and so it is.
Get out of your head…it’s deadly in there
The problem that most people have when it comes to working out is themselves. They want to exercise and get in better shape without having to do the task. Talk means nothing without action behind it, for sure. Studies show that Americans are increasingly suffering from obesity and the numbers are not going down. Why is this, you might ask? The answer is simple. Comfort! Sitting on the couch and watching television while griping about how you wish you looked or felt will not get the job done. The same rings true for anything else you hope to do in life.
Continual conversations with yourself about all that you wish that you could do will only serve to pacify your mind into believing that by having these discussions you are somehow doing something about it. You can continue to fool yourself, but in the end, it’s only you who will suffer from bad health and a body you are not feeling good about. If you want to see a change, you must be the change itself. It starts with the task of ending the mental conversation on what you wish you could see or do and to begin the process of taking your first step toward that goal. Baby steps lead to the adult steps that you visualize in your mind. If you see yourself physically fit, then those baby steps will someday get you there. Stop thinking about it and just start doing something about it.
When you exercise, you begin the process of improving your confidence in yourself and all that you do. Working out pushes you beyond the mental limits that you place on yourself and proves to you that you have the ability to go beyond all things in which you are capable. This lesson to yourself will extend into your business ventures and all other aspects of your life because you will have seen for yourself the power within you to achieve your own personal goals. You have what it takes. You just have to believe it.
