I have stage 4 kidney disease. My kidney doctor who is well known for being an excellent doctor, requires I take two baking soda tablets a day…so the patient’s doctor is the best judge on whether or not to take baking soda. I also have hypertension so there are exceptions to every rule.

Well, thank you for the article. I’ve read it through, and taken 1 tsp of Soda Bicarb in 1 glass of water. I will heed your advice and warning.
    Thank you.

The paragraph about high blood pressure should be moved way up in the article, like maybe the second paragraph. Hyping something as having many proven benefits and way later adding a line that people with high blood pressure shouldn’t take it is not helpful, given the epidemic of high blood pressure in the US and the tendency of people not to read till the end of a story. I was ready to try this but knowing that sodium in almost any form is still salt, I was looking for something about it and it took a long time to find it.
