As someone who suffers from paruresis, urine-only drug testing has proven to be a daily nightmare for maintaining my job. In a strange twist of justice, one is proven “guilty” of using drugs, simply by being physically unable to urinate on command – even though no drugs were actually used by said individual. Meanwhile, the ones who are dirty come up “innocent” by, as this article states, using another person’s clean urine. The DOT has to start offering saliva as an alternate form of testing so that those who are unable to urinate are offered the same chance at employment as those who have no trouble performing.
